WorshipReport from the Worship Renewal Team

The Worship Renewal Team was assembled by Rector Emily Richards in January 2011 for the purpose of examining the worship life of our parish and looking at where we are now and where the Spirit is leading us in the future. The goal of the group was to be able to make recommendations to the vestry regarding worship by late 2011 or early 2012.

The work of the committee has been completed and they presented their final report to the vestry and the congregation in January.

The group was purposely composed of members who represent a variety of styles of worship that are or have been offered at St. Peter’s. They come from a variety of religious traditions, and some have been at St. Peter’s since childhood and some for only a few years. They were tasked with getting the thoughts of our parish as a whole as well as visiting other churches (both Episcopal and otherwise) to get models for worship. They are:

Donna Bernini-Martin (5:00, choir, folk music and contemporary music group)
Jenna Linke (10:00, Worship Committee, contemporary music group and choir)
Kate Boyce (5:00, Taize, former member of Worship Committee)
Katherine Bacon (10:00, folk music and choir)
Larry Sibley (8:00, liturgy teacher, adult education planning team)
Rick Pearce (healing service and 10:00)
Rob DeKalb, CHAIR, (10:00, Worship Committee, and altar guild)

We are truly grateful to the members of the committee for their hard work and dedication to this project!

Family. Community. A place where you are loved and accepted. The place you come to be refreshed and challenged. The body of Christ. Many interests, energies, and efforts combine to create the place of welcome and joy we know as St. Peter's Church. Most important among them is our people. Us. From the infant passed around and snuggled by many, to the 96-year-old whose stories are lovingly heard. We gather to be formed and strengthened in love. May our love extend, knowing no bounds and leaving none of God's children behind.
God of unchangeable power, when you fashioned the world the morning stars sang together and the host of heaven shouted for joy; open our eyes to the wonders of creation and teach us to use all things for good, to the honor of your glorious name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever. Amen.
