Episcopal Unity Build (EUB) with Habitat for Humanity
St. Peter's is joining with 11 other Montgomery Deanery churches and Habitat for Humanity to build a single family home on Linden Ave. in North Hills. Our congregation, through the Stuart Fund Grant, has made a $40,000 matching grant toward the $90,000 that must be raised to build the house. Other congregations, as well as ours, will be raising money toward the remaining $50,000.
The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, September 13 at the corner of Linden Avenue & Chestnut Street in North Hills. The EUB congregations will have three dedicated work days per month for our teams to work on the house. Work days are Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Construction is expected to take 12 months or more, so there will be plenty of days for volunteers to work. All levels of ability are welcome to volunteer. No prior construction experience needed as we will be taught on the job. For those with professional or significant amateur skills in construction, plumbing, or electric, additional opportunities may be available.
Fundraising efforts at St. Peter's will begin soon. However, if you have contacts in the building materials or contractor industries that you would feel comfortable approaching for in-kind donations of materials or skills, please feel free to approach those contacts at any time; the more in-kind donations we can raise for the project, the further our cash donations will go.
If you have any questions on the EUB, please contact Ken Rose, Lisa Donahue Rose, Ellen Ivory, or Roxanne Walter.
