Adult Education Opportunities

At St. Peter’s we value education as a part of each person’s spiritual and faith journey. This is as true for adults as it is for children and youth. We offer several forums for adult religious and spiritual education. On most Sundays following the 10AM service, we offer opportunities to engage in discussions which inspire and challenge us in our beliefs about God and our faith. These Sunday forums generally follow a theme for the education year (September through May) and within that theme year a series of forums (such as at Lent or Advent) may take a look at a particular aspect of the overall theme. When appropriate and possible, we invite outside speakers in to discuss these topics or use various media to help inform the topic and engage the interactive discussion. Small and large group discussion utilizing short instruction, media, the lectionary and/or wondering questions are typical of many of the sessions.

We also offer opportunities for adult learning during mid-week evenings. These sessions are usually led by church members with a particular interest or expertise in a certain topic or book. Mid-week learning is also very interactive and many of the topics are focused on church seasonal themes.

St. Peter’s also offers Education For Ministry (EFM) which is a structured class-type curriculum. Members meet weekly for intensive discussions of the Bible and its meaning to the individuals and modern society. The class is led by church members who have already completed the curriculum which spans four years.

Education is a priority for the members of St. Peter’s who feel that asking questions and sharing thoughts and ideas in an open and supportive environment is great way to grow closer to God and to see His hand in all we do.
