Blessings Abound in Our Children, Youth and  Family Programming This Year

New opportunities for children, youth and families, as well as some beloved returning programs, will roll out in September and October this fall (2022). Contact Rev. Barb at stpeter654rector@gmail.com for more information.

Deanery-wide youth ministry for teens

St. Peter’s is collaborating with other Episcopal parishes in our region to offer programs for youth and teens, starting in September.

Everyone stays in worship for “Come 4th Sunday”, starting Sept 25

Our children, youth and families are invited to “come forth” to take on new roles in worship this fall in our Come 4th Sunday liturgy, which we’ll pilot at our 10 am service on the fourth Sundays of each month, September through November.

On Come 4th Sunday, everyone stays in church rather than be dismissed for children’s programs.  Songs will be simple and upbeat so that all can sing without reading music.  Special scripture translations and prayers will allow children to serve as lectors and lead the prayers of the people.  Entire families can help usher, take the collection and bring up the gifts. Come 4th Sunday is a liturgy for everyone, inviting our children, youth and families to “come forth” to share their gifts.

Additional kid-friendly liturgy options start October 16

  • Our beloved Godly Play program for preschoolers through grade 2 will return Oct. 16 during the 10 am worship. Children start in the Godly Play room for hands-on storytelling, conversation and activities, and join their families in the church for the Sign of Peace and Eucharist.

  • New this year:  Children’s Chapel will invite children in grades 3-6 to experience their own children’s Liturgy of the Word during the first part of worship. Children will be dismissed from worship with adult leaders for age-appropriate Scripture, discussion and activities. They will return to the church at the Sign of Peace.

Want to support these new opportunities!

Adults and older teens are invited to assist with Godly Play and Children’s Chapel on a rotating basis.  Several opportunities await our parish children and youth and families on Come 4th Sundays (and other Sundays as well). A team supporting teen programming is forming as well.
