Combating Food Insecurity in Our Community

What We Offer
St. Peter's recognizes that many of our nearby brothers and sisters may go to bed without enough food for the next day. We offer both non-perishable and fresh food to those in need through the St. Peter's Food Cupboard and the Abington Community Fridge.
The Food Cupboard stocks non-perishable food items as well as some personal care and household items. It is open every day from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, and is located directly inside the parish hall, through the back doors off the parking lot in back of the church. You are welcome to walk in and help yourself to whatever you need.
The Community Fridge is a project of mutual aid, in which community members provide food for one another through a refrigerator that is accessible seven days a week, 24 hours a day. It is located on the porch between the kitchen and the food cupboard.
Your Donations Help
We encourage those who can to donate items to keep our cupboard and fridge well-stocked.
Fresh Foods - Fresh fruit and vegetables, unopened yogurts and beverages, and cured meats in sealed wrapping are among the items that can be placed in the fridge. Packaged and labeled raw meats and fish can go in the freezer. See the signage on the fridge for more information on what can and cannot be donated.
Non-perishables - St. Peter's members can bring their donations to church on Sunday morning and put them in the red wagon, where they will be presented at the altar as part of the Offertory. Items can also be dropped off directly to the cupboard any time when the cupboard is open.
We are currently in urgent need of peanut butter and jelly, Spaghetti-O type canned pasta, dry pasta and sauce, soup, cereal, proteins (canned chicken, tuna, beef stew, etc.). Click HERE for a printable full Grocery List.

Campaign to Match Food Cupboard Donations Continues Through May
The April Showers Match was very successful! We thank our anonymous donor for their generosity, and we thank everyone who so generously donated for the month of April. Remarkably, another generous donor has offered to match up to $1,000 of donations received for the Food Cupboard during the month of May!
The Purple Pail will be back in church each Sunday in May for your donations. If you would like to contribute, please make your checks payable to St. Peter's Church (with Food Cupboard in the memo line). You can also donate online by clicking HERE.
Thank you St. Peter's community for helping us to continue this important ministry to support our neighbors this May!
