With Gratitude and Grace: Linda Toia's New Chapter and Lasting Connections at St. Peter’s

Dear St. Peter’s Friends,

My leave-taking time is approaching, and I asked Rev. Barb if I could share an update of my transition plans in the newsletter this week. Thank you, Rev. Barb, for saying yes.

I sold my house and have settlement on June 27. I will move that day to my apartment in Baltimore, which is just a mile from my son Dave, his wife Justina, and my grandson Greyson. My last service will be June 15, as my move begins June 22, with people helping me prepare for the moving truck the next day.

As you can imagine, this is a bittersweet time, as I have lived in this area of Pennsylvania for my entire adult life. Leaving St. Peter’s is particularly poignant, as I have had the gift of developing deep friendships during our life of worship and ministry together. I am grateful that I will be able to come for visits, and thanks to our Tech Team, have the ability to watch services online. I am planning to continue my relationship with St. Peter’s as I co-facilitate our two Listening Circles by Zoom with Melissa Olson. I have also offered to be a background resource person for our Guatemala committee. Playing bass guitar in the folk group, however, is not possible long distance! I am deeply grateful for my tenure as folk group leader and have been blessed to make joyful sounds with my musician friends. I look forward to listening to our folk group’s new musical endeavors!

Rev. Barb, thank you for the beautiful liturgy of transition during our picnic. It is a blessing to be able to bring closure in such a meaningful way.

I will miss you, my friends, and will continue to hold you in light and love.

Linda Toia
