From the Parish Nurse: The Importance of Emergency Contacts- Especially for Those Living Alone

Dear Friends in Christ, At St. Peter’s, we are blessed to be part of a caring and compassionate community. From the Pastoral Care Team and your Parish Nurse, I want to gently encourage a small but important step- especially for those in our parish family who live alone.

In the event of an emergency- whether it’s a fall, an illness or a sudden hospitalization- it is vital that we know whom to contact on your behalf. Having a current emergency contact on file with the church allows us to act quickly and compassionately when help is needed.

Even if you are healthy and independent, life can change in an instant. Providing the church with the name and phone number of a trusted family member, friend, or neighbor ensures that we can reach someone who knows your needs and can assist during a critical time. This also allows us to call or email your emergency contact if we haven’t seen you in church for some time and we can not get a hold of you for a well-being check.

We invite all parishioners, but especially those living alone, to please:

• Contact the church to update your emergency contact information, or

• Speak with me or Rev. Barb directly after any Sunday service.

Your information will be kept confidential and used only if necessary to support you with care and dignity.

As the Body of Christ, we are called to look after one another. This small act of preparedness is a reflection of our shared love and responsibility.

With peace and care,

Kristina Marchuk, Parish Nurse

The Rev. Barbara Ballenger, Rector

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Glenside
